Farah got her eyebrows tattooed when she lost her hair to alopecia. But after never being happy with the results and developing her own range of eyebrow transfers, she decided it was time to remove her cosmetic tattoos. Here, she tells us what removing her eyebrow tattoos means for her - and how tattoos have helped build her confidence.
I've had alopecia since I was about eight years old. I think I was 15 when I started losing my eyebrows. I've had them tattooed a few times, but I've just never been happy with the results - with the colour or the shape - and they've faded really quickly. I now wear eyebrow transfers, so I just want the old eyebrows to be gone.
I've also got a tattoo on my leg that I stupidly let my ex-boyfriend do when I was about 21, so I've been desperate to get that removed ever since.
“People always think that tattoos are permanent… but after seeing the results that you guys have, it's amazing.”
What kind of impact do you think removing your eyebrow tattoos will have?
It's going to be life changing. It's funny because I feel more self-conscious about people seeing my old eyebrow tattoos than I am with people seeing me bald. It's so strange, because I would never have said that a couple of years ago, but they made me feel really self-conscious. Because one was very faded and the other one was just… they were just awful. So I think having them removed will help with my self-confidence a lot. I don't have any eyebrow hairs now, but I'd rather have nothing there and have the option of wearing my eyebrow transfers than have the old, horrible tattoos.
I guess people always think that tattoos are permanent, like once they're there, they're there. But after seeing the results that you guys have, it's amazing. There is an option to get them removed if you do change your mind for whatever reason.

Would you say tattoos have played quite a key role in your alopecia journey?
I really like tattoos. I've recently stopped wearing my wig - it’s been maybe two years now. I used to wear my wig all the time and the summer that I stopped wearing my wig l got my back tattooed.
It really helped my confidence, when I was going out without my wig on, that I had that. I don't know, it might sound silly, but it helps my confidence a lot.
What made you decide to remove your eyebrow and leg tattoos now?
I've been putting it off for a very long time. I just thought, ‘I don't want to wait any longer’.
I found NAAMA on Instagram. I checked out the reviews and everything looked amazing, so that's why I came to you guys.
And how’s your tattoo removal experience been so far?
It was really good. I was nervous, I can't lie, because of my pain threshold being so bad but the whole experience was great.
If you're thinking about it, just do it. And definitely come to NAAMA because my pain threshold is not good, but it really didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and it was so quick. 100% worth it. It's been amazing.
