Cosmetic tattoo removal is achieved when our LightSense® laser and your body team up to clear any unwanted ink. You don’t need to be a laser expert (that’s our job) but it can be helpful to know a little about the process. What makes permanent makeup permanent? And how does laser removal actually work? Let the science lesson begin…
How long does it take to remove permanent makeup?
It takes 3-5 sessions on average to fully remove cosmetic tattoos. Permanent makeup is as unique as you are, which means these figures can sometimes be less, sometimes more. Three factors determine how long removal might take: the permanent makeup itself; your health and lifestyle; and your bespoke treatment plan.

All cosmetic tattoos are different. From microblading and lip blushing to scalp micropigmentation, the depth, density, color, and type of ink all influence treatment length.

Strong immune systems are more efficient at flushing away ink particles. Help optimize results with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Remember that water is your best friend, so help your lymphatic system flow by keeping hydrated.
Being well-rested and eating a balanced diet will get you the best results. Unsurprisingly, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption may slow the process, so this is a great excuse for a health kick.

Your permanent makeup is one of a kind - so too is your treatment plan.
Our expert nurses and dermatologists will assess your cosmetic tattoo, discuss your lifestyle, and ask about your removal goals. You’ll then receive a bespoke treatment plan and tailored aftercare protocol to follow between treatments.
What happens in a permanent makeup removal appointment?
It’s ok to feel a little apprehensive about starting permanent makeup removal. You don’t know what to expect - but we do, and we’re here to help.
After checking you in, our receptionist will show you to a seat and offer a drink (the immune-boosting shots and craft coffees are our favorites).
We love a before and after photo, so you’ll receive regular imaging by our photographer throughout your tattoo removal journey. These photos are incredibly satisfying for both you and us, and are a reminder of how far you’ve come.
In the treatment room, your nurse will talk through your bespoke treatment plan and answer any questions you might have. We use a Zimmer machine to actively cool and desensitize the skin during laser treatment, and your nurse will talk you through the session so you always know what to expect.
Once the treatment is complete and aftercare has been discussed, your nurse will take you back to reception where we will book your next appointment. You’ll also receive an aftercare card with our key tips for looking after your skin in the days following treatment.
